Panjim: Author Raghuraman Trichur whose book Refiguring Goa was published by Goa 1556 was present at the book club of Broadway book house on 27th March 2014.

Raghuraman Trichur is professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology, California State University, Sacramento. His teaching and research focus mainly includes comparative political economy, state and class formation, critical analysis of cultural change, tourism, development and violence in South Asia.

While working on the book, Refiguring Goa, Trichur claims to have worked on a skeleton on the Goan society based on the path of the merchant capital history through which he could further look at various anthropological journey.

The entire interaction with Trichur and other authors gave rise to a thought that nationalism as it was and is perceived is colonialism in its own self. This according to Trichur includes the tourism for, with the advent of tourists, the peasantry directly engaged with the tourist, which translated to direct income that was free pf the landlord.
