Globalising Goa: Cover of Goa, 1556’s latest book, now available at Golden Heart Emporium (Margao) and Broadway (Panjim). Globalising Goa offers a wide-ranging account of the place Goa occupied both in India and the world beyond, before the advent of the British Raj. The author, Ernestine Carreira, has specialised in the history of India and the western Indian Ocean in the Modern Era. She is a consultant scholar for the French Ministry of Higher Education , and has for many years worked within international research teams focusing on Asia and the Portuguese-speaking world in the Modern Era; since 1987 she has forged strong research links in collaboration with academics and scholars from Goa.
